Post Script on Tonight’s Show-Subject Doris Williams (Oasis Health Care) WRAL

The Show ran long tonight. But, you can catch the whole thing on DCN TV. Keep in mind that the DCN TV stream is the unedited, unfiltered, live version of the show. Without commercials and with down time during the WNCR commercials.  Kind of like watching the morning radio talk shows.  In fact, we set it up like that so you could get the look and feel of the behind the scenes action of what it takes to do a live local talk show.

I stand by everything I said tonight. There is nothing wrong with Doris Williams’  health care company. If anything, I think she was set up by The Governor’s Office and the OOTG leaked the letter to WRAL to create this story. Why? Because Bev wants to do away with the PCS agencies in NC to save approx 400M in her budget.

What Bev doesn’t understand is that these are very needed services. Without these services clients will get sick, sicker, malnourished, etc.   Does Bev care?  I’d like to think so. I knew Bev when she was in the NCGA…when she started out in New Bern.  She cared back in the day. I hope that moving up the political ladder hasn’t jaded her core values. I also hope to God she isn’t taking the advice of some of the more idiotic career ‘movers and shakers’ in Raleigh.

Like I said on my show tonight, WRAL didn’t air the part of the old man crying because he thought he may lose his services.  WRAL didn’t mention that Oasis is one of the only organizations that has a “in house” review of services.  And that that comes out of Doris’ pocket, not from anything else.

And, WRAL didn’t evaluate the RN case managers who go to these clients to review the services they are receiving. There are  issues evolved with these case managers and how they do their jobs.

But, what WRAL did do was have an opportunity to be spoon fed by the Gov’s office. And, they jumped on that hook line and sinker.

Responsible reporting, NO. Entertainment, YES. This is not the first time WRAL has done this, but for some reason, I always expect better out of them.

Maybe I”m just naive.  But, I do know Doris Williams is an ethical provider, providing a much needed service to the clients of eastern North Carolina.

I posted this on the Telegram website tonight after I read the story written by Geof Cooper. This is pretty much a regurgitation of the WRAL piece, with Tara Larson’s comments added in. I hope this comment stays up on the telegram. I’m posting it here because I’ve learned from personal experience the Telegram has a habit of conveniently losing posts.

Doris Williams is a small fish (a small target), but an easy one for the State to go after. Why? Because most smaller companies doing this work don’t have the legal resources to litigate the State, even when the state is wrong.

If the State can go after her, with all the might and power afforded them, what would stop the State from coming after you. Maybe not in this situation but another.
