Fayetteville NC Electric-May End Ties with ElectriCities

Fayetteville’s home-grown utility may sever ties with a trade organization in Raleigh.

The Public Works Commission is balking at next year’s projected $94,353 in dues that must be paid to remain a member of ElectriCities, which represents 51 cities that own electric utilities. Most of the members are in North Carolina.

PWC commissioners say the dues are too steep, and they won’t vote to pay them.

"I would love to see us continue to be part of the organization, but not at $91,000," PWC Commissioner Mike Lallier said at an April meeting, estimating the dues.
