If you’re like me, you’re tired of reading long pages of who said what in this “As the Buck Turns” soap opera. So, I’ve broken it down in outline form, along with the new information that came to light Thursday, September 23rd.

The New Information:

At least three arrest warrants have been uncovered relating to a Grand Jury Indictment of 8 Counts of Felony drug charges against Buck Newton.

Newton says it a case of mistaken identity.

Newton files a defamation suit against A.B. Swindell, The Committee to Elect A. B. Swindell and the North Carolina Democratic Party.

Background:

All of this really started several weeks ago, when Buck Newton started using a robocaller by the group Southern Outreach. It calls Sen. A. B. Swindell “ab swindle” and distorted his NC Senate voting record.

At the same time, Newton got spots on morning radio show Jammin’ 99.3 “The DP Community Spotlight” and said integrity and honesty were important in politics. Buck Newton called Sen. Swindell a lair (among other things) and basically did a hatchet job on Sen. Swindell’s voting record; distorting information.

Who Threw the First Punch?

The “In A Nutshell” Segment:

Buck Newton had every opportunity to keep this Senate race about the issues facing Nash & Wilson Counties. It was Newton who decided to start “throwing mud” at Sen. A. B. Swindell. Swindell (rightfully, in my opinion) just wants Newton to “own-up” to the integrity Newton thinks is so important in politics and give some real answers to these felony cocaine and marijuana charges.

Oh, and the other charges too: like lying to a police officer, driving with a suspended license…well, anyway, you get the picture.
