Some economists say this could bring as much as 250M into the Metro area.  But, it’s not only that Charlotte, NC is a beautiful city with lots to do.  The Democrats won North Carolina, in 2008, by the smallest of margins.  In fact, we didn’t even know on election night that North Carolina would go to Obama.

By picking the Charlotte (metro area), the Dems are targeting North Carolina as a key battle ground state with a whopping 15 electoral college votes.  15 may not sound like a lot, but in electoral college terms it’s a hell-of-a-lot.
