Can Christie Sell His Bridge Story?
Christie may lose a few pounds this weekend from dehydration. Not because he’s out playing in the sun, but because he’s sweating bullets with big-time billionaire Republican donors.
Technically, Christie isn’t raising money for himself. He’s raising money for Florida governor, Rick Scott. Christie is the chairman of the Republican Governors Association.
Christie’s Money Venues and the billionaire who’s who:
Orlando—John D. Rood and Bill Heavener to name just two. Heavener ran Romney’s fundraising campaign in 2012.
Palm Beach—it’s get’s sweeter down in south Florida with a fundraising gig at the home of Jose Pepe Fanjul Jr., he’s a VP for one of the USA’s largest sugar producers.
Fort Lauderdale—(do you get the feeling it’s like spring break in January) Anyway, about 50 miles north of Miami is the home of Bill Rubin. Rubin’s the president of a big time lobbying firm.
But, here’s the real kicker: This afternoon Christie is headlining another fundraiser for Gov. Scott at the home of Ken Langone, the billionaire co-founder of Home Depot. I don’t think they’ll be talking about home improvement projects. But, this is where the real money is at and where the big-time movers and shakers are going to gather. This could be the game
changer for the big man.
The only problem is that the fish aren’t biting.
The big money is sitting on the sidelines nodding their heads in agreement when Christie speaks, but they’re not buying the deal. They’re waiting to see if and when another shoe falls from the George Washington Bridge.
The gossip is that everyone suspects, deep down, that Christie is lying about the GW Bridge , but they’re waiting to see if he get caught in that lie.
Christie knows they know. And, Christie is sweating bullets in the Sunshine State.
