#NCDems Chastise NCGOP Over Voter ID—But Uses It When It Suits Their Needs

Keeping Democrats Honest in North Carolina—how can Democrats rebuke Republicans over Voter ID when they use government issued picture IDs to their benefit?

The Obama Administration—through the United States Justice Department—is suing North Carolina over the Voter ID law that will go into effect in the 2016 election cycle.

But, what some of you may not know it that at least some within the NCDP use it, at their discretion, when it suits their purpose.

The Issue: Chris Hardee—NCDP 3rd District Chair.
Mr. Hardee—the longtime third district Chair was removed from that seat several months ago because an internal NCDP Council of Review hearing proved he did not reside in the third congressional district—but in the thirteenth district.

Mr. Hardee is appealing that decision.

While that appeal is underway—Mr. Hardee used a newly issued NC DMV driver’s license to get elected back as Chair of the NC 03 during a special district election.

Two weeks ago, I emailed Patsy Keever, NCDP State Chair and Zack Hawkins, NCDP 1st Vice Chair, asking if the NCDP acknowledged that election and acknowledged if Mr. Hardee was actually re-elected. I’ve received no response.

As with most things these days regarding North Carolina Democratic politics—this issue is convoluted as it relates to Mr. Chris Hardee. There are some Democrats saying his re-election isn’t valid for many reasons.

But, Mr. Hardee asserts he is in fact the Chair.
