It’s interesting how so many people watch the “war” on TV and think it’s so far away it really doesn’t matter to “us” way over here. The sad fact is that the two wars—now down to one—has taken a tremendous toll on all of us back home, especially right here in eastern North Carolina.
I’ll admit that these wars have been going on for so long the media has mostly become disinterested. They’ve moved on to other “fun stuff” like the BP oil spill and the latest hurricane in the tropics. It’s also very expensive to report from those locations, month after month, year after year.
Recently, a Bragg soldier, who was hospitalized with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder committed suicide by hanging himself in one of the hospital’s wards. He was a by-product of the war we seem to think is so far away.–I haven’t seen this covered anywhere, by any local, regional, or national media outlet.
News organizations like CNN make decisions everyday about what to air and what NOT to air. The point everyone needs to remember is that CNN (along with every other TV and radio station) is ultimately controlled by the Government: it’s called the FCC.
I’m not a “conspiracy theory” guy, and I not saying there is an ultimate FCC bureaucrat pulling the strings at CNN. But, I do know that viewers don’t always get the “full” story and some of the more important stories don’t get told.

George our soldier’s need our heart felt support not just a yellow sticker slaped on the back of a vehicle. Also interesting statement on the moral of our soldiers few recieve mail or care packages unless they are receiving a Dear John letter. Yes, there are some that do these good deeds for our soldiers. But the numbers are few. Our countries soldiers fight for “OUR” freedom and protect other nations not just our own from terriany. “We” as a collective whole should do more even if its just to write a letter to say thank you. Our soldiers lives depend on their Moral.
