Marshall started out in Harnett County this morning at a kitchen table breakfast talking to middle class voters about issues facing North Carolina. She also made stops in Wilson at Bill’s BBQ and in Rocky Mount at two locations.

In Wilson, Marshall asked a question I’ve not heard a politician ask in a very long time. She said, “What’s on your mind?” As she went from table to table shaking hands and posing for pictures, she continued asking questions and gave candid reasons of why she’s running for United States Senate: Jobs, jobs, jobs, education, education, education.

Sam Swartz, a Marshall campaign strategist, said, “it’s about jobs jobs jobs and education education education.” After 16 years in office Richard Burr has forgotten who he’s there to represent.

Marshall remained focused as her touring RV hit Nash county.  She stopped at a local resident’s house and discussed issues facing Nash county.  But, to everyone’s surprise, Marshall made a swing by the Nash County Democratic Headquarters to rally the volunteers who were manning the phones.

Marshall’s reasoning for stopping at the Nash headquarters, she says was simple. “The reason we’ve gotten this far is because of grassroots efforts like this.  What you do and what you continue to do is very important and I want you to know I appreciate it.”

Marshall spent a few moments talking with each of the volunteers.  She considers  grassroots campaigning the backbone of her run for the U.S. Senate against Republican Richard Burr. 

So far, Marshall and Burr are scheduled for three debates before the November 2nd election.
